Real Wedding; Emma and Jack @ Worrowing
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
Jack and I met at our first job in our local IGA in a little beach town on the South Coast. We were 15.
Who popped the Question and how did it happen?
Jack was in Fiji for work, so of course I came along! We had spent the day on the South Sea Island where we did our first scuba dive, ate some yummy food and enjoyed the warm water. Towards the end of the day, Jack suggested we get some “couple photos”. If you know Jack, he’s not one to volunteer photo op’s. So both of us and the photographer that was on the trip with us went down to the water’s edge where we took some photos together, before he got down on one knee.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
We wanted something that felt like ‘home’ to both of us, and Worrowing was exactly that for us. Not far from our childhood homes, onsite accommodation for guests and having so many beautiful areas to wander through and enjoy. Worrowing was the only venue we looked at, and it was a very easy decision from then on!
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
110 including 18 kids!!
Sit down or Cocktail Style?
Canapes during photos, sit down meal after
What month?
October
Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
Overall I enjoyed it, however we planned it in 9 months! When things became stressful, my wonderful MoH was there to assist and take some of the big stuff off my hands. I also found having WEC a massive help in organising!
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
It was mostly me (Emma) that did the planning, and I would ask Jack’s opinion when it was needed.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Mitch Pohl the photographer was a non-negotiable for me! And dancing lessons (which turned out to be so much fun!)
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
It was the first day I looked with my maids and mum. We had tried 3 stores before finding ‘the one’, which included crying when I saw one dress I loved, and trying on what I thought was my dream dress! It was the 4th shop we tried, and I thought “I won’t find anything in here”, and one of the lady’s who was assisting brought out what turned out to be my dress. It has florally motifs (which is fitting as both myself and MoH worked as florists). I added a shimmer layer underneath which caught the sun beautifully when I walked.
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
Autumnal and garden style.
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
I felt calm (up until it was time to put the dress on!). Jack felt emotional – mainly nerves!. We both slept separately the night before.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
Honestly eating and dancing! Having Dad walk me down the aisle was super special, and of course seeing our wonderful guests enjoying themselves. But our first dance was really special, and our food was to die for!
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didnt go to plan?
It was a bit windy! Gusts of 50km/ph, but once we were inside we were all good. I also wish I had realised my hair was totally blocking my face for the guests who were on my left!
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
Not really, other than having Dad walk me down and having a father/daughter dance.
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
The best life can get! People say it doesn’t really change, but I feel for us it has. It’s just the best adventure.
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
The food!!! We had Bumpy Road, and the guests were raving about it! Even months after we’d get someone who would mention the food. We had so much, so no one left hungry, and we even had some to take on our mini-moon with us!
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
Slightly over.
