Real Wedding; Amelia and Jake @ Bawley Vale Estate
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
We met at a University farewell party, then again at Uni Games at Wollongong in 2016.
Who popped the question and how did it happen?
We went camping at Merry Beach in Bawley Point, I was not that keen as we had already been camping two weeks previous for our 6 year anniversary. I declared if we are going camping again, we are taking Stash – our 11 year old Kelpie – much to Jake’s distress as he was planning to propose. We went for a walk and I was pointing out the views when I turned around Jake was on his knee with the sparkliest ring. Stash was doing zoomies and Jake said ‘Amelia will you spend the rest of your life with me’.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
BVE was on the list as number one as we got engaged in Bawley Point and the South Coast is a treasure for us. As soon as we drove down the driveway past the vineyards towards the Grange we knew this was the perfect venue for us.
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
We had 90 people
Sit down or Cocktail Style?
Sit down (shout out to Rabbit & Co for catering)
What month?
February
Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
There is a lot to think about when you plan a wedding, it is like building a team to put together your perfect day and was so much fun to find such amazing vendors on the South Coast and having the Wed Event Creators helping us and coordinating with the leading up to the event, it made our day so easy!
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
Amelia is very it will be alright and Jake is a details guy so wedding planning went hand in hand together.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Must haves – music, amazing food and venue for friends and family to enjoy!
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
My gown was from Chosen by Kyah. Definitely allow time to find your dress, but when you put it on you know it is the one. This was the second dress I tried! My sister also made my veil with a hand sewn heart which was SO special.
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
We had a minimal classic wedding as the venue is beautiful, the greatest vinyl Dj’s (We Play Records!) and colour pop of flowers in the reception (The Wild Rose Moruya).
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
We both felt like we were so ready to get there, nervous but anticipating such a beautiful day, which it was!
What was the best part or moment of your day?
For me, it was walking down the aisle and seeing all of our guests and Jake standing there. I had picked quite a walk to the ceremony location so it was just special to see all the smiling faces.
For Jake, it was the kiss & dip on the way back down the aisle, confetti flying and music blaring after being declared Husband and Wife.
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
Not a thing! Except tip for gals with veils to use bobby pins as we had a runaway veil in the ceremony haha!
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
It was special to wear my great grandmother’s engagement ring as a gift from the family on the day.
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
Content and loving starting the next chapter.
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
The Wild Rose Florist in Moruya absolutely delivered on the ceremony florals and bouquets. Disposable cameras are also a great investment. But all of our vendors were amazing, so it was all money well spent!
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
Budget was probably towards the over side of things.
