Real Wedding; Abbey and Steven @ Barn on the Ridge
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
Who popped the Question and how did it happen?
Steven popped the question at Werri Beach with our dog Stanley watching on. It was beautiful!
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
It was actually such an easy decision for us. Abbey grew up on the South Coast and went to St Mary’s Milton Primary School. She always wanted to get married in the Church across the road. We just needed to decide on a reception venue and Barn on The Ridge had everything we needed and more!
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
80
Sit down or Cocktail Style?
Sit down
What month?
July
Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
It wasn’t as stressful as I thought but I definitely don’t miss it. It was made easier with WEC as they kept us accountable and reminded us of things we may need – which was really good!!
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
I (Abbey) definitely took the lead. Steven was helpful with some inputs though!
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Abbey is a music teacher and so having a top notch band was a non negotiable! Duke Music were the band and they were amazing!! Steven just wanted really good food!
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
I bought my dress from the Ivory Room in Paddington. I went to 5 wedding dress shops in one weekend so that it was an all in or nothing attitude. I wasn’t leaving that weekend without knowing what my dress would be! I actually really liked my game plan as I was focussed. My dress was everything I wanted.
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
When we first started planning, we had no idea what direction of theme we were heading in. I still don’t know quite how to describe it – a mish mash of whimsical and country!
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
We both felt quite nervous!
What was the best part or moment of your day?
Probably when we first saw each other. I know I felt at ease when I saw Steven.
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
My veil fell off halfway down the aisle – that was the only thing that didn’t go to plan so we had a pretty great day! We wouldn’t change a thing.
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
Not that I can think of!
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
Fun, relaxed and easy!
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
The band!! So worth the money. They created such a vibe and everyone couldn’t stop raving about them.
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
We were meticulous with our budget and spent what we estimated.
