Real Wedding; Katey and Jake @ The Oaks Ranch
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
At work, nothing too exciting!
Who popped the Question and how did it happen?
Jake did, at the south coast on a headland spot during a private picnic upon sunset.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
Venue choosing process was a bit of a let down, we travelled far and wide! Except for when we stumbled upon Oaks Ranch! They had a pool, accom, they let us have our puppy Knox in the bridal party, and we could have as many people as we wanted! An absolute perfect venue for us. Oh, and the Oaks Ranch crew are absolute delights to work with and we’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
215 (from an invited list of 250)
Sit down of Cocktail Style?
Sit down and standing/combination
What month?
February
Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
Loved it! Really up my ally (can you tell this is Katey typing)…
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
I took the lead, Jake was happy to come in at key decision making points.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Pool, never ending drink supply, no limit on guest list numbers and pet friendly.
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
My dress was custom made, and it was a good process but I wouldn’t do it again!
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
We leant into the Mediterranean type vibe that Oaks Ranch naturally lends itself to, and the formation of the day night/weekend was traditional yet casual. We included all the formalities but kept it light and the day/night moving so guests weren’t bored at any stage.
On the Day;
How did you both feel on the wedding morning?
Nervous, excited, happy.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
Our first look! Closely followed by seeing all our guests enjoying themselves.
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
I wouldn’t bother so much about the dress, and would bother more about having someone with a mirror follow me around so I could see where my hair was up to all day! and I would have hoped that the marquee that the lovely Oaks ranch teams sourced last minute was properly tied down so it didn’t blow away haha… Having said that, I never saw it, so it didn’t matter to me!
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
Garter toss and just normal ceremony stuff, rings, speeches etc. I wore something old, new, borrowed and blue too!
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
All bets are off! We love it.
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
We are glad to have spent the money on our guests (and ourselves) to ensure a good time was had by all and we missed out on nothing at all.
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
Slightly over, but we weren’t very good at saying ‘no’! Plus we ran a rough budget the whole time and we weren’t too far off. We’d pay it again to do it all over again!
