Real Wedding; Daana and Jacob @ The Cove
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
We met at the beach when we were 14. We did Surf lifesaving together. It was love at first sight for Jacob. Took a little bit longer for Daana.
Who popped the question and how did it happen?
Jake popped the question during lockdown. We kayaked over to quarantine beach in manly. Kind of ironic and he popped the question in his budgie smugglers.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
Googled coastal weddings in NSW. Found The Cove on Wedshed website after filtering for beachside weddings. We were looking at weddings around our local area in the Northern Beaches/Sydney Area. everything just seemed so expensive and didn’t allow much flexibility. We also loved the idea of a destination wedding. The Cove ended up being the only venue we looked at. We loved it and just booked it.
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
121
Sit down or Cocktail Style?
Sit down
What month?

Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
Bit of both. Jake found it stressful. Daana enjoyed it. Daana was a lot more calm and collected.
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
We spent a fairly equal amount of time on planning, although Daana definately did take more of the lead on most design and planning.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Daana
– Beachside ceremony
– Having the Ceremony and reception super close to each other
Jake
– Beachside Ceremony
– Being able to choose which beers to have
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
I went to about 3 different stores before I found my dress in Marry Me Bridal in Mosman. It was pretty much the opposite to what I was expecting but I loved all the detail it had around it with so many individual flowers sewn on. The neckline was amazing and it was so nice on. I loved wearing it all day and night long.
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
Our style was coastal cocktail. We wanted a sunny day filled with bright colours. Nothing too formal. Our wedding guests turned up in florally button ups and some of them even in flip flops!
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
Jake felt absolutely fine leading up to the wedding until about 2 hours before the ceremony. That’s when the nerves kicked in. Once the Vows were done, it was pure happiness from that moment on.
Daana felt relaxed the whole time before the wedding including the wedding morning. No nerves at all.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
Our favourite part of the wedding day was the ceremony. It turned out just like we had dreamt it. For Jake one of the best things about the day was just seeing everyone be so genuinely happy for us. For Daana it was just how she had planned it everything went to plan.
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
Everything went pretty much to plan. The celebrants iPad (which had her whole script on it) died during the ceremony which was a bit stressful, but she handled it fantastically.
Daana was running a bit behind schedule, but luckily we had left plenty of time for the cocktails between the ceremony and reception so we were able to make up time pretty easily.
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
No, neither of us are religious or have any cultural traditions. The most important thing for us was just formalising our life long commitment. The Ceremony was quite short but thats how we wanted it. Just formalities, we wrote our own vows, exchange the rings and then onto partying!
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
It’s hard to describe, but being married is much better than being engaged. We love being husband and wife. We are super glad our wedding was so beautiful, and although its a little sad its over, we are just so happy that it was so amazing. We will have those memories forever.
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
This is a hard one. We loved all of our vendors. Honestly, Booking WEC was a great investment. It made the whole process much less stressful. But i think a close second is having the Photos and videos to remember the day by. But then having the beautiful flowers, music, food and drink also all just made the day what it was too.
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
We never really had a budget. We kind of just knew it was going to be expensive, and we knew we wanted to have photos video, nice food and drinks and so we just got multiple quotes and chose the vendors that we knew would be great and offered good value too.
