Real Wedding; Georgia and Patrick @ Bawley Vale Estate
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
G: We met at uni – we were both studying nursing at the smaller Wollongong campus in loftus so we’d seen each other around. We didn’t properly start talking though until we matched on tinder so honorary mention to the power of tinder.
Who popped the Question and how did it happen?
P: I tried to recreate a romantic gesture that I’d done very early in the relationship by hiding a build a bear teddy in the boot of the car on Christmas Eve with a little note that said “turn around”. I picked Georgia up from work and in the driveway at home asked her to grab something out of the boot for me. She was a bit suspicious but I think she was definitely surprised – I don’t think she was expecting to get proposed to in the driveway at home. But it was perfect because all our family were able to watch from inside.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
G&P: We’d been down to Bawley point for a small trip during COVID for our 4th anniversary. We kept driving past Bawley Vale estate and seeing the grange in the distance and both desperately wanting to see inside. After we got engaged we booked a visit down to see it and the cove but on the day the road into Jervis bay was closed due to a fire so we went to Bawley Vale first. Marg was great showing us around and letting us have time on our own around the property to get a feel. We loved it. After we finished there we contemplated whether we wanted to look at other venues but we knew deep down Bawley Vale was the one. So we really only looked at one venue and booked it a couple days later.

Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
G: a bit of both. Mostly I loved it because our vendors were amazing and super chill letting me bombard them with emails but also being patient when I didn’t reply for days at a time haha. I was completing my masters at the same time so it made it a bit more stressful at times.
P: I must admit I didn’t do anywhere near as much as Georgia so I was relatively stress free.
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
G: I’m a bit of a control freak so I really took on the wedding planning. We still had a lot of conversations about what we wanted together but I sort of took the lead for organising/booking etc. I mostly let Pat organise his groomsmen stuff.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
G&P: we were both pretty flexible but we knew we both wanted something’s wild to do our photography and videography. They’ve done a few weddings in our friend and family circle so it felt like a non-negotiable for our day!
G: Also my hair stylist Jaimi Iriving Hair – she’s been doing my hair since I was 15, I couldn’t have gotten married without her there!
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
G: I must admit the dress shopping was similar to the venue choosing process. I had looked at a couple different wedding dress shops and there was a few I was planning on booking into when I was ready. A year and half out from the wedding we went on a quick trip to Byron during COVID border closures – my mum and sister and I are very big fans of Spell and the Gypsy. While we were there my sister booked the Spell bridal suite. The beautiful Hannah at Spell made us feel so at home and we had so much fun. I tried on my wedding dress and was so in love with it. It just fit the vibe of the wedding day and honestly I don’t think I couldn’t not get married in a spell dress. It’s all I wear anyway!
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
Both: We both didn’t necessarily pick a style of theme but we wanted everything to tie well into Bawley’s rustic style so we kind of went with florists and styling that we knew complimented that. We both just really wanted everything to be relaxed, that was kind of what we kept saying to vendors when they would ask us what vibe we were going for!
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
G: at first I was nervous but once everything started happening I was just so excited to get there and see Pat!
P: strangely calm and unstressed there was definitely anticipation there but it wasn’t anything that I was scared of it was the good kind.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
G: between dinner and speeches we snuck off to the beach for photos at sunset. Rose and Lachie from Something’s Wild just let us do our thing and it was so nice. It was so peaceful, we walked past some people on the beach fishing who said congrats and it was just a moment away from everyone to just be together the two of us and the sunset was epic! I think I’ll remember that moment forever!
P: hard to pinpoint an exact moment In hindsight I would kind of divide the day up into sections and they were all special and memorable in their own way. It was all amazing
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
Both: honestly I know everyone says it but it was the best day ever and as far as we knew everything just went to plan perfectly that there’s nothing we’d really change.
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
Both: it wasn’t really traditional by any means the only thing we did that we felt was really important was honour our family members that have passed by putting photos of them up on a table. It felt nice every now and then in the night walking past the table and seeing our loved ones that we miss everyday.
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
Both: haha it doesn’t feel much different it’s just so much fun calling each other husband and wife in conversations with others! It’s definitely been like a little love bubble the past few weeks.
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
Both: honestly one of the best money we spent was on vendor meals.. we’d seen so much in Facebook groups about people not wanting to spend money on vendor meals but seeing how bloody hard every one of them worked for us definitely solidified why we did it – pay vendor meals guys!! Otherwise getting the at the beep Audi guest book was so good, having our friends and families voices in recording forever is so good. G: The only thing I’d recommend is giving people some prompts because people panic when it’s in front of them!
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
Both: definitely over what we initially thought we’d spend but to be honest it wasn’t too much over what we expected and by the end we were pretty stoked which how much we spent and how the day turned out!
