Real Wedding; Grace and Matt @ Currarong Hall
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
We actually met on Hinge. A classic modern day love story.
Who popped the Question and how did it happen?
Matt surprised me with a boujee as hell luxury stay near Uluru when we were living in Alice Springs NT. Whilst we were gazing out at the big red rock, I turned around and Matt had pulled out another rock!
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
We knew we wanted to do the wedding on the South Coast as I used to live there and Matt’s folks had a place in Currarong. We checked out a bunch of the incredible venues in the area and were impressed with them all, but realised that we wanted to do something a bit more unique and felt more like us. So in the end we chose to do it in Currarong, a tiny town that holds so many memories for us – this way we had creative license over every detail which we really loved planning.

Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
My dress was by Melbourne-based designer Madi Lane. I came across it online and fell in love with many of their styles – whimsical, delicate, delightful tiny floral details. I found a Sydney stockist, told them the designs I liked, showed up for my appointment and the first one I tried on, the same one I first saw online was the one I bought. I was totally in love with it.
My second dress was a late addition and actually from the Forever New Bridal range, much more budget friendly but I absolutely loved it, so glad I had it because it was so much more comfortable to dance in!
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
Our theme as per our invites was “Bush Chic – formal cocktail wear inspired by Australian landscapes. Think native florals, earthy tones and whatever Australia means to you”. We were thrilled with the results. Everyone understood the assingment and thankfully no one showed up in dungarees. Although Akubras were encouraged.
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
I was giddy as hell and couldn’t sit still. I barely slept the night before and went for a sunrise swim at 5:30am which was an incredibly peaceful and grounding way to start the day. Then had the best morning with my besties getting ready.
Matt was cool as a cucumber – as ever.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
One unexpected occurence – during our bridal party entrance to the reception, there was so much bellowing, hooting and hollering from the guests that one of the tables actually collapsed on the ground, along with the place settings, plates and glassware for about 8 guests. It was rather shocking, followed by everyone cheering!! The perfect mic drop to our incredible entrance. Luckily we had an excellent team of vendors including our WEC coordinator and Henry Clive bar staff who whipped into action, resetting the table and the night continued without another hitch.
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
We both wrote each other letters to read the morning of, before the ceremony. And then during the ceremony we had a “Ring Warming” where the rings were passed around the guests to each give them a wish or blessing.
