Real Wedding; Maddi and Ty @ Private Property
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
It was at Kembla motocross track, a friend of mine had a knee reconstruction and was in a wheelchair, I was pushing him around all day and was struggling to push him up a hill and Ty stopped to help.
Who popped the Question and how did it happen?
Ty proposed, we went up to Byron Bay for Ty’s birthday, he disguised the weekend away as a birthday trip so then I would plan it. He knew if he booked the trip I would be suspicious haha.
It was mid-morning and we went for a walk up to the Byron bay lighthouse, out to the most easterly point.
There were some mushy cuddles and a small speech of how he loves me then he popped down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
We originally had booked Seacliff House in Gerringong back before we all knew what Covid-19 was. One thing led to another with lockdowns, postponements and so on, so we ended up changing venues due to availability.
Fortunately, my mother and her partner have over 25 acres in Cattai and the property is just beautiful.
Quick Fire Questions;
How many wedding guests did you have?
140
Sit down of Cocktail Style?
Sit Down
What month?
November
Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
A bit of both, I loved scrolling Instagram for hours getting styling ideas, I’m great at an excel spreadsheet and dress shopping was so much fun.
But as I mentioned before, like many other couples we had Covid to deal with. In the 3 years we were engaged we postponed the wedding twice, had a venue change and had a baby!!!
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
I did everything, Ty didn’t really care about the details and that worked well for us.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Good music and good booze !
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
My dress was Chosen by Kyha – Muse and I bought it from Love Marie in Camden.
I knew from the get go that I wanted all over beading. I only went to a few bridal boutiques before Love Marie, and for me as soon as I put it on I knew. It made me feel like a million dollars.
I already had my dress before I fell pregnant though, so in the months leading up to the wedding it was stressful knowing my dress didn’t fit and feeling the pressure of not having enough time to buy another dress. Eventually (about 8 weeks out) the zipper did up, thank the lord! It didn’t fit the same way as it did to my pre-pregnancy body, but regardless of that it was beautiful and I felt amazing in it.
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
We had a lot of neutrals, coastal style furniture & decor.
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
Super excited and a little bit nervous.
What was the best part or moment of your day?
Definitely the vows and Ty’s speech. Both had me absolutely bawling my eyes out.
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
I would have asked a friend to organise the family photos after the ceremony. Like, give them a microphone to call the names of people who were meant to be in the photos etc.
We didn’t have this and I felt really stressed trying to call people over while also trying to pose for photos, it was SO hot and i just said screw it, so we missed out on heaps of photos with our family.
I would have also booked the Wedding and Event Creators to do the clean up the next day haha
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
Mum and dad both walked me down the aisle. My parents arent together but I have a strong relationship with both of them. It only felt right to me that both of them be a part of that special moment.
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
Nothing has changed, and for us that’s exactly what we wanted.
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
This is a hard one. I think photographer, good Dj and good alcohol/bar staff are all SO important but so obvious.
Two things that aren’t always high priorities on peoples lists when booking vendors but i feel were so worth the money were….
Videographer (Two Folk Films), watching our video back had Ty and i both in tears. We also got a documentary edit with the ceremony, speeches etc.
I love that we have this to treasure, i think it’s amazing that one day when we are old and grey, we will be able to go back and relive the day throughout video.
And Wedding and Event creators’ coordination. Having a wedding on a private property brings another level of organisation I just didn’t have time for with a baby haha Vanessa and her staff did so much in terms of liaising with other vendors, run sheet and on the day with setting up the whole reception space.
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
Over, definitely over.
