Real Wedding; Maya and Matthew @ The Woods Farm
About You Two;
Now, How did you two meet?
We met each other at University of Wollongong in 2014. I am always a late person, and this happened to work in my favour this one day. I was running late to one of my first classes at uni and I remember I walked in about 15 minutes late to a full class. I remember quickly scanning the classroom to find a free seat and the only one left was the one next to Matt. And then we just kicked it off from there.
Who popped the question and how did it happen?
Matt proposed to me on the 28th of July 2019 at Killalea Beach also known as The Farm.
We went there for a walk that Sunday morning to meet our friends who just came back from Thailand. We said we would do a catch u at the beach. We got there and I couldn’t see them anywhere, so we kept walking up the beach. Then while walking Matt stopped me and started telling me why he loves me and how I make him feel. He got down on one knee and proposed to me.
He had organised a friend who was a photographer to take sneaky pictures if this moment which were so nice.
Then after having a moment on the beach, we decided to walk up and once we got the grass area of the beach both our families and friends jumped out and it was such a beautiful surprise. It was so nice to have had all our people share this moment with us.
Why did you choose your venue and how was the venue choosing process?
We got married at The Woods Farm Jervis Bay. We got married here as the venue is absolutely stunning and it was so us. It is so exposed to wildlife and nature and there was a Chapel on the estate, so everything was all in the same location. We didn’t want our wedding to be generic in a function centre, we wanted something different that reflects who we are. The venue allows you to book out the entire site for the weekend, so it felt like a small wedding vacation with all your guests. We had a pizza night with everyone on Friday night up in the vege garden which was located on site. We loved this as it allowed us to mingle with everyone before the actual wedding day. The Saturday was the wedding day, so I spent most the morning getting ready where Matt went up to the pool and chatted to everyone at breakfast before he went off to get ready. The venue offered yoga and animal feeding for the guests that morning before all the functionalities began at 2pm.
The Sunday morning after the wedding we all had a big breakfast spread with everyone which was so nice because we got to see everyone and hang out with everyone in a chilled-out environment. We were on such a high and everyone loved the entire weekend. It was something different.
We both grew up going to Jervis Bay as a family holiday destination (not together). When we started dating at the age of 19 we would always take little weekend trips down and talk about how we use to come here as kids, both just so in love with the area. So, when we found The Woods Farm at Jervis Bay we couldn’t not have our wedding there. It was perfect for us.

Planning The Wedding;
Was planning the wedding stressful or did you enjoy the journey?
We found it pretty stressful But having you guys help us helped sooo much even though we were a bit late in getting you guys involved.
How involved were you both in the wedding planning, did one of you take more of the lead on certain aspects than others or were you both equally involved?
We both were pretty involved especially making the big decisions but I was more involved in the nitty gritty things.
What was the top couple of non-negotiables or important must-have’s at the wedding for you both?
Fresh Flowers, Spirits (alcohol), lost of food and dancing time.
Tell us about your dress and that dress-finding process?
My wedding gown was ivory with beaded detailing all over it. The bust was like a strapless corset with boning structure in it, this area of the dress was more on the sheer side. Then once it got to my waist it came out like a princess dress with a long tram. I got the dress from ‘Brides in Love’. My mum picked it out.
What sort of theme, vibe or style did you go for?
We went classic.
On the Day;
How did you both feel wedding morning?
Excited and nervous in a good way
What was the best part or moment of your day?
Our highlight of our wedding was Matt and I first seeing each other when I was walking down the aisle. Another highlight was our entrance into reception. The energy was just so high. Another highlight was just having everyone we loved all in one lace celebrating us.
Anything you would change about your wedding or anything that didn’t go to plan?
Maybe triple checking the guest list and seating chart.
Are there any rituals, sentiments or traditions you incorporated into the day?
We had Lebanese drummers and music incorporated into the night as I am Lebanese.
We also had my family priest who ran the ceremony.
After the Wedding;
Describe newlywed life in a couple of words?
We feel like a new chapter in our lives have started. We feel more solidified and a team.
Best investment or money well spent on the wedding that you made?
DEFINITELY YOU GUYS! JADE WAS AMAZING!! The day wouldn’t have gone as smooth if it wasn’t for her and your whole team who helped leading up to the day.
Budget-over, under or what you estimated?
Budget was kind of what we expected, maybe went a little over.
